Child (2) drowns in Northmead

A two-year-old boy was declared dead at a Northmead home today (August 27), after he allegedly fell into a swimming pool and drowned.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said the incident happened at around 11.30am.

“Upon arrival, we found family members initiating CPR on a two-year-old boy,” said Meiring.

“We continued the CPR and advanced life support for 45 minutes.

“Unfortunately after that time no vital signs returned and the child was declared dead.”

In an unrelated incident, a six-year-old child drowned in New Modder on August 14.
