Two arrested for hijacked vehicles

Two men were arrested for being in possession of two hijacked vehicles in Daveyton, on August 25.

The EMPD Tracing Unit acted on information provided by members of the Daveyton community.

“On approaching the house, three suspects, realising that the metro police were entering the yard, tried to bolt on foot,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago.

“A pursuit of the suspects ensued and two were apprehended, with one managing to evade arrest.”

The EMPD found a Mercedes Benz (hijacked in Etwatwa, in July) and an Opel Corsa (hijacked in Delmas, in August).

Two men, aged 50 and 23, were arrested.

They were detained at Daveyton Police Station after being charged with possession of hijacked vehicles.

They were expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court on August 26.
