Park is not closed

Joan Gould and Janine Richardson write:

Up to now only negative reports have been placed and ambiguous statements made in a number of papers, giving the impression that the Benoni Bunny Park is closed.

The truth of the matter is that the park will only be closed when renovations begin, which has not happened.

We have run the craft market at the park for the last 15 years and we support a number of charities who rely on the market to supplement their income.

The crafters also rely on the market for their income.

The negative publicity has impacted dramatically on the market and the notion that the park is closed is also a massive problem.

I still have people calling me thinking it has been shut since the closing of the park for three days, a year ago.

One only has to look at the Bunny Park Animals 911 Group (now called Save the Bunny Park Animals) to see the progress made.

After the out-of-court settlement which the group was delighted with, a lot has happened and many positive decisions made about the future of the park.

Their Facebook page has such a positive attitude now – they are most satisfied with the way the staff at the park are working together with them.

The market serves a vital function in the community – giving work to many people and being enjoyed by a huge number of visitors every month.

The park is definitely open now.
