Make somebody’s night memorable

Having flawless hair, nails, shoes and a grand entrance are some of the essentials needed to guarantee a memorable matric dance.

However, some teenagers don’t attend their matric farewell due to the financial cost of creating that perfect night.

Nomakhosi Msiza (19) is now trying to assist teenagers to ensure they have an unforgettable matric farewell.

“Coming from a private school, people were surprised to find out that I could relate to their struggle,” said Msiza.

The former Ashbury Private School pupil has used social media as a marketing tool.

The Daveyton resident is asking people to donate their old matric farewell dresses or suits.

She plans to collect 30 dresses and 15 suits in total.

“We need to bring change and change people’s lives even if it’s only for one night,” said Msiza.

“The matric dance is the closing of one chapter and an opening of another; it’s a celebration.”

Currently working with two local schools in Daveyton, Msiza has asked principals and teachers to identify pupils who are in need of matric dance dresses or suits.

“I want this to grow bigger every year and to play a role in contributing positively to the lives of other young people,” she said.

“The response I have gotten has been exciting, people are happy to support the cause.”
