Tariff increases: this is what you will have to fork out extra
Ekurhuleni residents will have to pay between 7.64% to 9.4% more for electricity in the new financial year.
This increase is based on Nersa approval and will depend on a consumer’s consumption level.
This increase, as well as other increases, have been announced by the MMC for Finance, Clr Moses Makwakwa, during his annual budget speech in Alberton on Thursday morning.
Assessment rates will increase by 7.5%. This is lower than the average rate increase of other metros of 8.1%. Pensioners who earn a monthly income of R2 840 qualify for a 100% rebate. The monthly income threshold for a 40% rebate has improved from R12 750 to R13 640.
