EMM investigating substation fire
A fire at a Rynfield substation has left several parts of Benoni without electricity this morning.
The substation is situated on Pretoria Road.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) spokesperson Themba Gadebe said affected areas include: Ebotse, Morehill, Northmead, Crystal Park, Putfontein, Brentwood Park, Fairleads, Benoni Agricultural Holdings and parts of Daveyton.
“Fire fighters are now on site putting out the fire and more details into the incident will be revealed throughout the day,” said Gadebe.
Gadebe could not say when power would be restored to affected areas.
