Fairleads hit by another leak

The water woes of Country View and some Fairleads residents are not over.

Parts of Fairleads was without water this morning (January 15), after yet another leak occurred along Vlei Road.

Chairperson of Country View, Ricky Coelho, said six water leaks have occurred on the water line along Vlei Road since the beginning of 2015.

He expressed his anger at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) for allowing thousands of litres of water to go to waste and not finding a permanent solution to the recurring leaks.

“We demand that they put in a brand new line on that section,” said Coelho.

The resident added that he has surpassed the point of being frustrated.

“I am so p’d off, I am tired of it,” he added.

Clr Stefanie Kruger (Ward 24) said EMM officials within the water department told her they would replace the problematic pipeline, however she was not told when this would be.

Kruger said she submitted a petition to council in mid-2015.

The EMM did not respond to questions sent to them this morning, by the City Times.
