Love your eyes, ride for sight

It's time for cyclists to start preparing for the prestigious and popular Dis-Chem Ride for Sight, which will be held at the Boksburg City Stadium on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14.

The 28th race remains a seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, with cash prizes valued at R82 000 to be awarded in the Cycling South Africa (CSA) cycling categories, while lucky draw and donation prizes worth over R200 000 will also be up for grabs.

To support the fight against blindness, Vision Works Optometrists will be offering free vision screening during the month of February.

For information on participating practices visit www.vision-works.co.za.

Vision Works will also offer free vision screening on race day, at the race venue, in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni.

As in previous years, Dis-Chem Pharmacies are the naming sponsors, with the Ekurhuleni Metro, Springs Wheelers, Hamnet Emergency Communications and Benoni Red Cross partnering with Retina South Africa to provide the cyclists with the best emergency and on route support, to ensure that they have a safe and enjoyable ride.

Enter now and help to restore the gift of sight, as all proceeds from the event go directly to finding cures for retinal blindness.

Over the last 27 years this event has raised more than R5-million for research into these blinding conditions.

To enter, go to www.cycleevents.co.za (online entries close on Monday, February 1).
