Man narrowly escapes collision on N12 highway

A man escaped without injuries on Monday (December 21) when he got out of the backseat of a car, just before it was rear-ended by a truck.

The accident occurred near the Snake Road on-ramp on the N12 East at around 8pm.

“When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found the back of the car crumbled under the truck,” said Chitra Bodasing, ER24 spokesperson.

“The car was severely damaged.

“According to the man who was a backseat passenger, he managed to get out of the car and run just before impact.

“He was uninjured.”

Bodasing added that the front seat passenger had to be removed from the car following the impact, after paramedics had removed the vehicle’s windscreen.

The front seat passenger and the driver, who got out of the car himself, had both sustained moderate injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.

The truck driver was uninjured.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
