Security guard hit with brick during Rynfield robbery

A security guard was tied up and hit over the head with a brick during a robbery on December 6, at 8.30pm.

The incident occurred on a construction site on the corner of Pretoria Road and Miles Sharp Street.

According Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele the guard was on duty when he was approached by five men.

“One of the suspects asked him what he was doing and he told them he was working,” said Sekele.

“The guard suspected that these men wanted to rob him, and he attempted to run.”

One of the assailants took a brick, hit him over the head and tied him up with a piece of wire.

“After a while, a truck entered into the construction site and the men loaded if with building material,” Sekele added.

No arrests have been made and a case of robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

More charges will follow.
