Record clawed away from Tigers

A Pietermaritzburg Action Cricket team has broken a Guinness World Record first achieved in Benoni.

The Benoni Tigers Action Cricket team, who set a Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing indoor cricket at the Benoni Action Arena, have had their record snatched from them.

The Tigers officially played indoor cricket for 25 hours and 59 minutes, in September, last year, and were confident that their record would stand for some time.

The Round Table Pietermaritzburg 12 team, however, had different ideas and played for 27 hours, from 10am on Friday, November 20, to 1pm on Saturday, November 21, all in the name of charity.

Official confirmation of their record is still to be finalised by the world authority.

Craig Thomson, who organised the Tigers’ record attempt, said the challenge has certainly been set for another attempt, but added that there is no sudden rush to try for the record again.
