Awesome athletes acknowledged

Benoni Northerns Athletics Club (BNAC) celebrated their 35th year of existence at the club’s beach-themed year-end function and annual prize-giving, held at the East Rand Speedboat Club at CR Swart Park, on Friday night, November 15.

Awards were presented to the following BNAC athletes:

  • Most Consistent Time Trial runner: Mpho Pilusa.
  • Most Dedicated Time Trial runner: Robyn Daniel.
  • Trail Runner of the Year (women): Chantelle Fourie.
  • Trail Runner of the Year (men): Shared by Con Roux and Craig Gornall.
  • Triathlete of the Year: Kirsten Willis.
  • Merit awards: Hendrik Strydom, Sidwell Mhlongo and Michelle Harding.
  • First woman home at 50km Ultra Blood Buddies Memel to Newcastle: Anne Reynolds.
  • First man home at 50km Ultra Blood Buddies Memel to Newcastle: Steven Msimango.

Comrades awards:

  • First grandmaster: Con Roux.
  • First master woman: Lynne Semple.
  • First master man: Dieter Stapel.
  • Third woman home: Bernice Piveteau.
  • Second woman home: Susan Masina.
  • First woman home and first veteran: Lorraine Barry.
  • Third man home: Paseka Taolane.
  • Second man home: Paul Pitco.
  • First man home, first veteran and first runner home: Greg Bishop.

  • Perserverance Award: Jeanette Lottering.
