No incidents of runaway pets during Deepavali

No reports of traumatised, injured or runaway animals, due to fireworks being lit, were reported to the Benoni SPCA over Deepavali, which was celebrated on Wednesday, November 11.

According to Shelley Owens, co-chairperson of the society, a call was received, asking for the number to which fireworks being lit could be reported, which was provided.

“The report for the celebration was pretty quiet,” said Owens.

With New Year’s Eve coming up, members of the public must take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of their animals.

Those wishing to set off fireworks are reminded to adhere to the by-laws pertaining to this action.
