Pleasant eat-out
Located on the corner of Celia Nestadt Road and Stokroos Street, Brentwood Park, there is a new takeaway outlet called Oasis Flamed Grilled Chicken.
With a variety of different meals from which to choose, customers have the option of enjoying pizza, chicken, beef and chicken burgers.
Owner Jan Vorster welcomed me and my friend Ziphozonke Khumalo with a friendly smile, presenting us with some of his favourites from the menu.
These included a chicken burger, wings with his own take on sticky sweet sauce, a half-chicken and chips and the chicken and mayo pizza.
“I want to be able to bring different types of foods under one roof; in the future I am looking to introduce fish and chips to the store,” said Vorster.
Since the store officially opened on October 13, the response has been good, he added.
After being presented with something cold to quench our thirst we placed our orders.
I had the Oasis Delux, which is a pizza topped with bacon, avo and feta.
Ziphozonke ordered the half-chicken meal, which came with crispy chips and a 300ml Coke.
“The chicken is nice and soft, the sauce is very tasty and the chips are crispy – just the way I like them,” said Ziphozonke.
The pizza I had was very tasty — my favourite part was having avo on a well-cooked pizza.
Getting to know the owner and teaching him a few Zulu words while waiting for our food proved to be quite entertaining, too.
A great way to take a bit of time out on a busy Saturday afternoon.
The small, yet warm atmosphere of the outlet gives customers the option of sitting down for a meal or ordering a takeaway before heading to their next destination. KM
