Hazardous intersection is repaired

Contractors are in the process of resurfacing and repairing the road at the intersection of Great North and High roads.

The intersection was reportedly causing a headache for motorists for at least three weeks, with some saying cars were damaged due to the fact that parts of the surface were ripped apart.

After three weeks of driving in hazardous conditions, motorists can now rest assured that their cars will no longer suffer damage.

A contractor on site, who did not want to be named, told the City Times on November 5 that the job should be finished this weekend.

The reason for the problem was the crumbling of the road and the formation of potholes.

”We are grateful for the initiative to rehabilitate the road,” said Ward 23’s Clr André du Plessis.

Du Plessis emphasised that the lines of communication should be open and that he should have been notified of the road works.

He said it is important to inform the public about road works and to give them alternative routes that they can use.

”People lose faith in the system because there is no communication,” he added.
