Race teams have been chosen

Teams for the Caxton Reynolds Race have been chosen.

The final team to represent the Benoni City Times in the Caxton Reynolds Race 2013, is comprised of Northvilla resident Jenny Seaton-Smith and Farrarmere resident Kate Rheeders.

They will stand a chance to win a trip for four to Mauritius, proudly sponsored by SA Reynolds Travel Centre, and could be the weekly winners of R5 000 Hirsch’s vouchers to spend at any Hirsch’s store.

The team and the City Times have chosen Rearabilwe Community Care Centre to receive R10 000 in Hirsch’s vouchers, should the Benoni BFF’s team come in first place on the final race, held at the Boksburg Rugby Club, on September 21.

On Thursday, July 18, the team will meet with sponsors and other participating teams from all over the East Rand, at a cocktail party held at Hirsch’s Boksburg. On the evening they will also complete a quick challenge in order to receive their first clue/lead.

The competition is based on “The Amazing Race”, and will require participating teams to complete various tasks across the East Rand, which will be related to the East Rand’s heritage.

Once they have completed their tasks, they will submit proof of this to the City Times.

Teams to submit their proof first gets the most points; the team to come in second will receive less points, and so forth.

Teams will do these tasks over weekends for seven consecutive weeks, and the three teams with the most points by the end will go through to the finals held on September 21.

Leads will be published online every Friday afternoon, where participating teams can download their instructions on what to do that weekend.

Results of each round/week will also be published online, so keep an eye out for your favourite team on looklocal, and follow their journey as the competition progresses.

We will also host a reader’s competition which will kick off soon, so don’t waste any time in getting to know the East Rand, as there are wonderful prizes up for grabs for those who wish to get a piece of the action.

Details on the reader’s competition will be published online and in the paper.
