Motorists ordered to ‘cough up’ during road block

The EMPD collected R39 500 in fines at a road block held on Great North Road on October 28.

They also wrote out another seven fines on the day, to the value of R3 500.

The road block was held on the corner of Great North Road and Fifth Avenue, from 9am until 1pm.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said the following fines were paid on the day:

  •  25 outstanding fines to the value of R27 000
  •  17 people had warrants against them. All of them paid fines to the value of R12 500

No arrests were made.
