Charity comes in a box

Put a smile on many young faces this festive season by donating a Santa Shoebox.

The Santa Shoebox project kicked off on September 1, with the goal of collecting 100 000 gifts for underprivileged children across the country and Namibia, under the theme “Giving for Good”.

The shoebox project offers people from all walks of life the chance to participate in a profoundly valuable and personal experience that enriches both the lives of those doing the giving, and those on the receiving end.

Santa Shoebox Project Gauteng Regional Coordinator Margie Kostelac said this year the goal is to go beyond this challenge, with new initiatives that take giving for good beyond the boundaries of the shoebox drive, aiming to make positive changes in the lives of these children – for good.

“The unique feature is that donors may choose the name, age and gender of the child or children to whom they wish to give the box,” added Kostelac.

Donors can log onto the website www.santashoebox.org.za to register as a supporter and then pledge boxes.

Gift boxes have to be filled according to the guidelines provided on the website.

People may make their drop-offs for Johannesburg East on October 30, 31 and November 1.

For more information on the central drop off stations, contact Kostelac on 082 417 3649, or email margie@santashoebox.co.za.
