Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital

A man was airlifted to hospital yesterday (September 28) following a motorbike accident in Northmead.

The accident, involving a car and motorbike, happened on Wellington Street, Northmead.

“Shortly after 3pm, paramedics arrived on scene where they found the young man lying near his motorbike,” said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

“He was in a critical condition and paramedics initiated advanced life support management.

“The ER24 medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for further medical care.”

The driver of the car did not sustain serious injuries.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
