EMPD arrest 18 on N12
The EMPD arrested 18 undocumented individuals on the N12 highway on September 26.
Members of the Equestrian Unit spotted a light delivery vehicle with a bunch of people crammed inside at around 8am, neat the Atlas Road off-ramp, when travelling east.
“A total of 18 undocumented persons in the light delivery vehicle were arrested and booked in at Benoni Police Station,” said EMPD Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.
“Seventeen males and one female between the ages of 17 and 40, who are from Mozambique and Zimbabwe, were charged at Benoni Police Station for being in the country without proper documentation.”
The suspects are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on September 28.
