SPCA internal hearings ongoing
The Benoni SPCA can't disclose what the allegations are against two staff members, after they were suspended recently.
Shelley Owens, co-chair of the society, confirmed that Renee Rossolimos (inspector) and Adele Makings (branch manager) were suspended on August 18 and September 2, respectively.
“These situations came to light as a result of internal investigations,” Owens said.
She added that details pertaining to the allegations would be released only after the end of the hearings.
According to Owens, it is uncertain at this stage when the hearings will be concluded.
”Not until all parties involved have exercised their full rights in terms of the Labour Relations Act,” she added.
“A qualified inspector has been seconded from the National Office of SPCAs; this person, together with the in-house trainee inspector, is handling the workload.”
