EMM statements don’t work very well

Paul Kirchmann writes by email:

The Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality has a new way of sending out statements and receiving payments.

It doesn’t work very well.

I clicked on Download PDF and nothing happened.

I phoned website related queries – 011 361 4201.

They said that their system did not work with the latest version of Acrobat Reader and that I had to uninstall Acrobat Reader DC and install an older version.

This I am not prepared to do, as I do many things with the new Acrobat Reader.

Please take this up with the civil servants.

Problems in this area resulted in my electricity being cut off earlier this year.

I also cannot understand why the ratepayer representatives (the city councillors) agreed to the name e-Siyakhokha for the new revenue collection system.

Why would the civil servants select a name like that?

Also, that system is administered from offices in Rivonia, Johannesburg.

I asked the telephone operator where she was sitting. She said Rivonia.

What is wrong with Ekurhuleni?

I have talked to e-Siyakhokha over a period of months and shortcomings in the system aren’t corrected.

I believe they are going to send me a statement in Microsoft Office (Word).
