Woman driven away after hijacking

A woman was driven to Bapsfontein by her hijackers, after they had forced her to the backseat, outside a residence in Cloverdene on September 5.

WO Ramothakhi Maqabe, Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson said the victim was at the house around 7pm to pick up her cousin.

“She parked her BMW in the yard and waited for her cousin to come out of the house,” said Maqabe.

“While the cousin was inside the house a suspect opened the car’s passenger door and told the victim to get out while pointing a firearm at her.

“The other suspect was at the driver’s seat window and also armed with a firearm.”

The suspects ordered her to move to the backseat and drove away, after which they dropped her off in Bapsfontein.

A case of hijacking has been opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.

Meanwhile, a stolen white Volvo was recovered in Wattville around 10am on the same day.

Actonville SAPS found the car abandoned on the corner of Sesedi Avenue and Dube Street.

According to Maqabe, the car was previously hijacked in Kempton Park.

At the time of publishing, no arrests had been made and both matters were still under investigation.
