The mother, who did not want to be named, said she and her daughter had driven to their Blake Street home, from the Sheridan Centre, in Farrarmere, when the incident occurred.
She said she pulled into her driveway, while four men in a white VW Polo stopped behind a truck which was parked in the road.
When she opened her automatic gate, the driver of the Polo pulled up behind her in the street, blocking her exit.
“As they pulled up I said to my daughter: ‘We are going to be hijacked’,” she said.
Two of the four robbers jumped out — one was apparently armed with a gun — and made their way to the driver’s door.
They demanded valuable possessions, including the mother’s rings.
While the rings were being removed, the teenager screamed for the men to leave her mother alone and yelled to the domestic worker to activate the alarm.
The robbers fled with the rings and the woman’s car and house keys.
The victim said she believes the same car followed her daughter home about 10 days before the incident.
A case of armed robbery has been opened at the Benoni Police Station.
No arrests have been made.
