Gauteng Premier visits Actonville

Gauteng Premier David Makhura aimed to strengthen local government presence during his visit to Actonville, on Saturday, August 8.

Makhura’s visit to Ekurhuleni forms part of the Gauteng government’s Ntirisano programme, which aims to improve government’s service delivery capacity and build an active public service, that is responsive to the needs of the people.

He met with a number of Actonville Hostel residents, along with Aubrey Nxumalo, member of the mayoral committee for human settlements.

Hostel dwellers took Makhura on a tour of the hostel, showing him various dilapidated services, within the premises, that need to be repaired.

According to Nxumalo, R14.5-million has been set aside to improve conditions at the Actonville Hostel.

The money will be used to demolish and rebuild the old hostel.

The first part of the development is expected to begin in January, and will see 42 units being rebuilt.
