Two women critically injured in Great North collision

Two people were critically injured and two were moderately injured in a collision between two vehicles on Great North Road in the early hours of this morning (June 12).

The collision occurred just before Elgin Road,when travelling towards Kempton Park.

“ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found one car completely wrecked,” said ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing.

“One woman was trapped in the vehicle and another was stuck under the vehicle.”

Fire and rescue services and paramedics worked together to extricate the woman who was trapped in the vehicle.

They also got the other woman out from underneath the vehicle.

The patients were assessed and it was found that they had sustained critical injuries.

Two other women, from the same vehicle, were also assessed and it was found they sustained moderate injuries.

All patients were treated and transported to local hospitals.

The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown.
