Eight hurt in Putfontein Road bakkie accident

Eight people who were being transported on the back of a bakkie were injured when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Putfontein Road on June 11.

The accident happened at around 5pm.

“On arrival paramedics found eight passengers of the bakkie lying strewn across the roadside” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.

“They were immediately assessed and the driver advised paramedics that all eight were on the back of the vehicle when she lost control and landed in the ditch.

“Two people were in a serious condition while six others suffered moderate injuries.”

All eight passengers were stabilised on scene before being transported to various hospitals by ER24 and other services.

The driver and passenger in the bakkie were not injured.

The accident will be investigated.
