Benoni man apparently shot in Spartan

It is believed that a man who was shot in the lower back in the early hours of Thursday morning in Spartan, is from Benoni.

The City Times’ sister publication, the Kempton Express, reported the 28-year-old man is believed to have been approached at his place of employment by four men.

“It is alleged that as the 28-year-old man alighted from his white BMW, he was accosted by about four men,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton police’s spokesperson.

They forced the victim onto the ground and a struggle ensued, which resulted in one of the robbers firing a shot, wounding the man in his lower back.

The man’s car was taken and was later recovered in the Alexandra township.

A case of hijacking and attempted murder has been opened.
