Ebotse Links CEO bids adieu

CEO Peet de Wet will be leaving Ebotse Links in June, to take up a new challenge in Cape Town.

He has been appointed CEO of Steenberg Golf Estate.

De Wet has expressed his goodbyes to the many members and golfers who frequently play at Ebotse Links.

“Towards the end of 1997 I was approached by Dave Usendorff to manage the Ebotse Golf and Country Estate,” he told the City Times

“I was appointed as the general manager by the Matkovich and Hayes group, to assist with the official opening and the establishment and maintenance of all facilities and operational requirements of the golf club, course and clubhouse facilities.

“When the golf club management’s company agreement expired in November 2012, the Ebotse Homeowners Association (EBHOA) took ownership of the clubhouse and golf course.

“The EHOA appointed me as their CEO and I continued with my career at Ebotse.”

De Wet shared some of the highlights he has experienced in his tenure in Benoni: “I am extremely proud of the fact that Ebotse Links was included in the list of clubs that have received the five-star Compleat Golfer awards since 2012 to date.

“Together with the golf club steering committee, we successfully re-branded the golf course to ‘Ebotse Links’ in 2013.”

Another proud accomplishment for de Wet came when he received his Certified Club Manager designation from the Club Managers’ Association of America Club Managers’ Association of South Africa, in 2010.

He has also won the Golf Club Manager of the Year Award at the 2010 and 2014 Ekurhuleni Golf Union awards.
