Woman critically injured in machine
A woman was transported to hospital in a critical condition on Sunday, after sustaining head injuries at her place of employment, in Benoni South.
The incident occurred at a business on Birmingham Road, at around 1pm.
“On arrival, paramedics were ushered inside the business where they found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, lying next to a machine,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
Orritt said it is unclear what type of machine caused injuries to the woman.
She was pulled from the machine prior to paramedics’ arrival.
“The woman was assessed and found to have suffered severe injuries and was in a critical condition,” said Orritt.
“Advanced life support intervention was needed and the woman was placed on a manual ventilator.”
She was flown by helicopter to the Milpark Hospital.
