Where are our traffic officers during loadshedding?

Disgusted motorist writes by email:

Miles and miles of cars at the major intersections during load shedding, and not a traffic officer in sight.

Many hours and many litres of fuel are wasted due to traffic lights being out due to load shedding.

Surely our EMPD is aware of when and where load shedding is taking place and can send traffic officers to do point duty at the major intersections?

Or is this function beneath the individuals that are employed by the EMPD today?

If there is a bit of excitement due to a fender-bender accident, they appear like bees around a honey pot.

Today I saw an EMPD driver work his way through the traffic, at an out of order traffic light, and turn into the drive-through lane of a well-known fast food outlet.

He was not even wearing his seat belt – a great example to the public.

You’ll also find dozens of them making life a misery for people trying to drop off or collect travellers at OR Tambo airport.

What a cushy job!
