Over R11 000 raised for Rainbow Nation Animals

The annual Dr Andy Swan Outreach Fund-raiser, held on March 21, at Old Bens, realised a total of R11 300, to be handed over to Rainbow Nation Animals.

The theme of the event was Rock ‘n Roll and the guests dressed up in special outfits to pay tribute to their favourite rock legends.

The late Andy Swan started an outreach programme in 2006, to help with the provision of much needed veterinary services to pet owners in Pella, in the Northern Cape.

After his death, in 2008, the work did not stop and pet owners in the area continue to benefit from the annual veterinary services provided through the programme.

The project needs R50 000 a year to ensure that the services reach the communities they assist, and the fund-raiser helps to raise some of the money needed.

“We are starting the Paws Project, where we encourage one person to donate R100 and challenge 10 friends to do the same, in order for us to try to reach our annual R50 000 target,” explained Eleanor Swan.
