Truck driver arrested for negligence
The truck driver whose truck caused the accident which resulted in the death of Minister Collins Chabane has been arrested for negligent driving.
Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe held an urgent press briefing in Pretoria following the shocking news of Minister Chabane’s death which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 15.
Chabane who was returning from the funeral of a local chief in Malamulele, Chief Samuel Makgona died along with his two protectors.
Radebe confirmed that the late Minister of Public Service and Administration will be accorded a special official funeral.
He said, “The details of his funeral will be given through at a later stage.”
Minister Radebe said there was no confirmation regarding the details of the driver. He said, “At this stage, the police are still investigating the matter, we cannot confirm if the driver was under the influence or not.”
Radebe said the details regarding changes in the cabinet are the sole responsibility of the president.
