Charnet hands over the reigns

Charnet Korff will be handing over her title of Miss World Universal 2013/14 in April, in Miami, Florida.

She was awarded the title in 2013.

The 22-year-old Benoni Agricultural Holdings resident will take part in various charity activities during March, such as a Walk for Jesus in Boksburg and breaking a world record by handing out pencils to 2 400 children in Centurion.

Charnet’s pageant inspiration is former Miss South Africa Cindy Nell, who is now a business women.

“I have a pageant training academy, which started in August 2013, for women who are interested in pageants,” said Charnet.

Her advice for young women who hope to join the industry, is to have a strong mind, because it can get very competitive.

“Always be yourself and do not try to be someone you are not.

“Women need to understand that it is not always about glamour, because a lot of hard work goes into pageant industries,” she said.

Charnet is involved in a project called Violence Against Women 365, which was prompted by a relative who was abused.

“I give talks on domestic violence and encourage women to speak out about it,” she said.

She also enjoys lending a helping hand when she can.

“I love working with people and making a difference in people’s lives, which is important to me,” said Charnet.

As she bids farewell to the crown, Charnet hopes to focus on her BCom Commercial Law degree, grow her pageant school and train young women in the pageant industry.
