Mjay on the music biz horizon

Rapper Mjay Da Spoil-Brat plans to further expand our respectable range of locally produced talent.

The rising musician, from Daveyton, aims to contribute his own flavour of hip-hop style to the music industry.

He described his style of music as “swag rap”, which is inspired by his daily experiences and observations of the lives of those around him.

“Listeners can expect good music and something real, that is happening in everyday life and to which they can relate,” said Mjay.

Into his fourth year of making music, he has a mixed tape recorded by B.ma, which he is aiming to have produced into an album shortly.

“I have loved music since I was very young and Jay Z and Beyonce made me fall in love with it even more, with their song ‘Upgrade U’,” he said.

He also enjoys performing alongside other musicians.

“I am part of a fantastic ‘fam’; my other members are Uniq-kid, Dblaze and PromiseDj,” he said.

When asked for his advice to other young musicians Mjay said: “Find something to do with your life other than smoking the whole day,

“It is not impossible to reach your goals, but you have to fight for what is is yours.”

Mjay is planning to embark on a school tour and those wishing to keep track of him can follow him on Facebook, at Mjay Da Spoil-Brat, or on twitter, at Mjay Da Spoil-Brat.
