Lieut Nomsa Sekele, Benoni police spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from possession of an unlicensed firearm, intimidation, common assault, housebreaking and theft.
“Some of the suspects appeared in court on January 2 and others were due to appear on January 5,” said Sekele.
During December Benoni SAPS officers arrested 15 people for drugs and confiscated 847 counterfeit DVDs and 35 knives.
Sekele said the Benoni SAPS appreciates the community’s involvement in fighting crime as the suspect, who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm, was arrested due to information received from community members.
