Now you have someone whose passion is to make Benoni a safe place to live in

Long time politician Michelle Clarke wants to see all Benonians living in a much safer environment.

Clarke, who was elected DA member of the Gauteng provincial legislature following national and provincial elections in May, was also chosen to serve as constituency head for the greater Benoni area.

“My passion is to ensure that each area within Benoni and greater Gauteng becomes a safe suburb to live in and, in doing so, I intend to maintain pressure on Gauteng’s MEC of Community Safety to ensure that our police force is highly skilled and well resourced,” said Clarke.

She said that part of this process is ensuring that police officers servicing the community do so with honesty and dignity.

Further to this, Clarke has taken up the need for specialised drug units to be reinstated, to tackle the drug scourge in Gauteng.

“I will also continue to work closely with the provincial team, making sure that critical programmes to monitor and assess policing matters lead to more up-to-date crime statistics – allowing our police service to respond more proactively to crime,” she said.

Her passion for the people of Gauteng and the Benoni constituency extends to ensuring that these communities have a clean and accountable government, and that every individual receives the services they deserve.

Clarke will use her vast experience in local government to assist councillors in Benoni to maintain pressure on the ANC-led administration to become more responsive to residents.

Through her work in the petitions committee, she has also vowed to hold the ruling party to account and ensure that all outstanding matters are dealt with, with the urgency they deserve.

Clarke previously served as:

  •  Ward councillor in the Ekurhuleni Metro for 11 years.
  •  Deputy chief whip for the Ekurhuleni DA caucus for a period of six years.
  •  Spokesperson for community safety as a councillor in Ekurhuleni for eight years.
