Things that don’t work properly

Marcus Kneen writes by email:

I was thinking to myself, when the water crisis occurred, that too many things are not working properly.

(Very serious repeated reported deficiencies.)

Here is a list of what I could think of:

· Water supply.

· Electricity supply.

· Sewerage system.

· Road maintenance.

· Traffic police.

· Municipal cleansing. (Roadside trash)

· The courts.

· The police.

· Prisons.

· Home Affairs.

· Education.

· Post Office.

· Telkom.

· Spoornet.

· South African Airways.

· SABC.

· Public Works Department.

· Water Affairs.

· Strikes.

· Service delivery protests and so on and so on.

I know not everyone in these areas is incompetent, corrupt or just bone idle, but the numbers are sufficient to ensure seriously negative media reporting on a very regular basis.

How do we get this straight?

This is our life, this is our town.

Politicians need to focus on what needs fixing.

Officials and workers should be held accountable and criminals dealt with.

Pressure your politicians to get it right.
