Reader should not feel lonely

I refer to the letter in the Benoni City Times (October 3), relating to the unprofessional manner in which the Department of Labour has handled a claim. This reader need not feel lonely.

My fiancé had to stop working in February, due to cancer.

He registered for UIF in Brakpan in March and is still waiting for benefits. They have been giving him the run around since then, with documents not in order, etc., and the two weekly interval.

If it was not so frustrating, it would be hilarious!

I have even gone as far as submitting the story to Carte Blanche and contacting the Commissioner’s offices in Pretoria.

They promised to follow up and come back to me today.

We will see?

In the meantime, we have to survive on my salary alone.

Bond payments cannot be made as all funds available go for utilities, food, fuel and meds.

We have been selling items and selling meals to make ends meet.

Life insurance and funeral policies are behind, but what do they care?
