Depending on how you submit your Income Tax Return (ITR12) to SARS, be sure you know the due date.
The deadline for posting it or dropping it off in a SARS drop box was September 26.
However, tax returns for provisional and non-provisional taxpayers can still be done electronically at a SARS branch until November 21.
Non-provisional tax payers who use eFiling have until November 21 to submit their returns.
For provisional taxpayers who use eFiling the closing date is January 30.
The tax season runs from July to November every year and, for provisional taxpayers who submit via eFiling, until January of the next year.
SARS warns people to be aware of the following when submitting their returns:
n SARS will never ask for your banking or personal details in any communication that you receive via post, email, phone or SMS.
n SARS won’t send you hyperlinks to other websites – even those of banks.
n Top Tip: beware of people who offer to complete your tax return for you and who promise they can get you a refund.
