Mouthwatering food at Mimmos Northmead

Dining at Mimmos is a real pleasure.

I experienced it with my colleague Gareth, when we spent a well deserved afternoon following hard work at the establishment on September 11.

Upon walking in we were welcomed by a waiter by the name of Tanya, who was very helpful in settling us down and in guiding us through the menu.

We immediately opted for starters and I went for their tasty chicken livers — prepared in a creamy Napoletana sauce, served with sweet sauce and fresh lemon, while Gareth settled for their delicious crumbed mushrooms — fresh button mushrooms, crumbed and then deep fried until golden brown — served with tartare sauce.

Very appetising I must say, and we could hardly wait for our main meals. For the main meal Gareth went for seafood in the form of grilled hake with chips – choice hake fillet, lightly flavour-dusted and grilled, then drizzled with lemon butter and served with tartare sauce.

I went for Gabriella’s Chicken Pasta, consisting of Cajun chicken, pepperdews, olive oil, garlic, sun-dried tomato, brinjals, roasted peppers, jalapenos, button mushrooms and feta cheese.

My chicken was well cooked, came in an edible size and it just melted in my mouth.

I enjoyed the distinctive taste of the sun-dried tomatoes and the olive oil also gaves the dish a unique taste.

The presentation was perfect.

Gareth said his dish was excellent and recommended that everyone try it.

The spacious eatery, with an enclosed smoking area, is a perfect place to dine with kids, as there are play-stations in the kiddies’ room.

This makes Mimmos more like a family orientated set-up.

Manager Monty Pillay said there are specials on Sunday, when kids under the age of 12 eat free, provided the parents eat the main meal.

There are wacky Wednesdays, too, when you receive a free 2lt Coke when you buy two large pizzas, and, on Thursdays, you can get selected large pizzas at a reasonable prize.

There is a lot to choose from on the menu, which includes ribs, pizzas — meaty and vegetarian — and a variety of starters and salads.

There are also plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from, including wine, beer, cider and spirits.

The restaurant also hosts functions.

It is open seven days a week — Monday to Friday, from 11am to 9pm; Saturdays from 10.30am to 1pm, and Sundays from 8.30am to till late.

The establishment is situated at the Coco Bean Centre, in Northmead.
