Donate blood for a good cause

Arbor Primary School will host a blood drive on Wednesday, September 10.

The aim of the drive is to raise 200 units of blood for the South African Blood Services (SABS).

Dawn Viljoen, a teacher at the school, was informed on July 23 that her daughter, Daniella, had been diagnosed with Myeloid Leukaemia and the school decided to hold the drive in support of Daniella.

The SABS needs to collect at least 3 000 units of blood a month, to cope with the demand within the region.

To become a blood donor, an individual must be 16 years or older, weigh 50kg or more, lead a sexually safe lifestyle and must have eaten at least four hours before donating blood.

The drive will be held in the Arbor Primary School staff room from 1pm till 6pm.
