‘No’ to smoking after this seminar

Bert de Nysschen, of the Rynfield Seventh Day Adventist Church, a life coach in smoking cessation, will host a Breathe Free programme.

The programme will be hosted over a period of three months, with the first eight sessions taking place over the first two weeks.

After the main sessions are completed, the group will meet as a support group for the next eight weeks, until week 12.

From then on it will be “solo flying” for those who have stopped smoking, with telephone support if needed.

As a young engineer in Krugersdorp, Nysschen became involved in smoking cessation when he received his first training on the old “five day stop smoking plan”, in 1982.

In 2001 he went to Holland for six weeks, to do further research on smoking cessation, working with the “Stoppen met Roken” foundation and visiting various government initiatives on drug rehabilitation, with relation to smoking.

He and his wife returned from the United Kingdom in March, after nine years, to continue working in South Africa where he is the minister for the church.

The seminar will be conducted in the seminar room at the Rynfield Adventist/Meals on Wheels Complex, situated at 124 President Steyn Street, Rynfield, where there is secure parking.

The course content will be presented in both Afrikaans and English depending on the needs of the group.

Bookings are recommended, as the group will be restricted to a maximum of 20 participants.

This is a community programme which is free of charge, even though any donations to help towards the cost of materials will be welcomed.

The first two evenings will be introductory and will start at 7pm, on September 3 and 4.

The actual course will start on Monday, September 8, but it is a requirement that the prior two sessions are attended as they are foundational to the programme.

For further information and bookings, contact de Nysschen on 011 395 2020 or 084 554 5899.
