Kempton arrest could be linked to Benoni robberies
Police arrested three men and are investigating whether they could be linked to house robberies in Benoni.
The suspects were arrested in Glen Marais, Kempton Park, after a car chase on Friday.
”It is reported that a member of the Benoni Community Police Forum spotted a silver Golf which was alleged to have been involved in several house robberies in Benoni and Bonaero Park,” said Kempton Park SAPS communications officer Capt Jethro Mtshali.
”Metro Police and Benoni Flying Squad members spotted the vehicle, with three suspects in it, on Great North Road.
“A chase ensued, with the suspects and police exchanging fire.
One of the suspects was shot in the back and another broke his leg when he climbed out of the vehicle.
The wounded suspects, aged 25 and 26, were taken to hospital.
The unharmed man was arrested.
A case of attempted murder was opened with the suspects expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court, soon.
