Narcotics dealers and buyer caught red handed

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Equestrian Unit acted on information provided by the members of community, resulting in two Cat dealers and a buyer being arrested, in Benoni.

EMPD spokesman Wilfed Kgasago said the arrests took place on the morning of August 1.

“The three suspects were in the process of completing their transaction when the Metro Police sprang into action to arrest them,” said Kgasago.

“After receiving the tip-off as well as a full description of the vehicle involved, Equestrian Unit members waited patiently on Klein Street until the dealers’ vehicle showed up and the buyer approached them.”

The officers waited for the moment when the money and the drugs exchanged hands, then pounced, apprehending all three suspects.

They confiscated the drug Cat, with a street value of R600, and R600 in cash.

“The two Nigerian dealers, whose ages are 26 and 33, were taken to the Benoni Police Station and charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances, while the buyer was charged with possession,” Kgasago said.

All three suspects were expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Monday, August 4.
