Wordsworth High School principal Dr Horn dismissed
Wordsworth High School principal Dr Annamarie Horn has been dismissed after being found guilty on all charges of racial discrimination. Dr Horn was found guilty on July 21 and will have five days to appeal the department's decision.
Phumla Sekhonyane, spokesperson for the Gauteng Department of Education, said: ”The department is satisfied with the outcome of this matter”.
The dismissal comes after Dr Horn told pupils, in November, that she did not have a problem with the white and Indian pupils, because she knew they washed their hair daily; she had a problem with the black girls, because they washed their hair only once a month.
She went on to say that washing their hair once a month made them dirty, because it was the same as bathing only once a month.
Dr Horn said some pupils were fat, and she made girls with chemically straightened hair wash it with Sunlight Liquid.
The former principal has been serving a suspension since late November.
The City Times is trying to get comment from the school on the finding.
