Man apologises to brother-in-law for accidentally shooting him with nail-gun

Nail-gun thought to be bad luck

The man responsible for accidentally shooting his brother-in-law with a nail-gun refuses to use the gun until his family member makes a full recovery.

The individual responsible for the shooting, who does not want to be named, said this afternoon that he feels the gun is bad luck.

Albert* accidentally shot his brother-in-law on a plot on Pitts Road, Benoni Small Farms, on the morning of July 3.

The two were making kitchen cupboards for their employer when the incident happened.

The traumatised worker said he held the gun in his hand as his brother-in-law stood up and pulled the cable supplying the gun with compressed air.

The gun then brushed the victim’s chest and fired a single nail in his upper chest.

The victim said ”you shot at me?” immediately after the incident and slowly lowered himself to the floor.

While paramedics made their way to the scene, the victim was placed in the shade and covered in a blanket.

ER24 paramedics stabilised the man on scene and he was airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in a serious condition.

Albert is still shaken by the incident.

”I was crying and now I am not good, because I can’t believe this,” he said at his employer’s home this afternoon.

”I said sorry, sorry – 100 times.”

Albert phoned his family member in hospital at 2pm today and will visit him in hospital tomorrow.

It is unclear what the patient’s condition is at present.

The Pitts Road home-owner thanked ER24 for their fast and efficient service.
