Plenty of warm hearts at Pug Rescue

Pug Rescue's theme for this month's fundraiser was "winter warmer" and plenty of warm-hearted members of the community supported the cause on Saturday, June 14.

Pug-lovers and their pets enjoyed a fun day at Pug Rescue, during which a variety of warm, comfort foods were on sale and people and their pugs could socialise and relax together.

A “Spin for Tim” game was popular among the people, who had the opportunity to purchase an attempt to spin the wheel, on which colours each represented a prize.

The funds raised from this activity will go towards the medical costs of one of the rescue pugs, Tim, whose trachea has collapsed.

The organisation has recently introduced a new food and blanket project, which includes weekly visits to the Daveyton, where they deliver 120kg of pet food and blankets to residents with pets.

They also deworm, dip and cut the nails of the animals and, in addition, take two dogs to a vet to be sterilised each week.

Pug Rescue appeals to the public to donate pet food and blankets to the cause, as these will be warmly appreciated.

The organisation takes care of about 85 rescue animals at the shelter and is always in need of the public’s support.

The organisation, which is situated at 80/81 Nielsen Road, in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings, is open on Saturdays and holds fund-raisers with new fun themes each month.
