Help those in need this winter

The Benoni City Times Winter Wish List is compiled to help local charity organisations to receive donations for this chilly season.

Each charity’s donation requests, along with a contact number, are provided in the wish list below:

The Haven Care Centre

Building equipment: (window frames, doors, roofing/wood for roof), pots for cooking, winter blankets, clothing for men, woman and children, soup, any meat and sugar for children’s breakfast.

(Mark Freudiger/ Pam Morgan: 073 324 5721)

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare

Clothing (track suits, jerseys, pyjamas and takkies for children aged three to 12 years — both boys and girls), bed linen for single beds (pillows, duvet covers, blankets, pillow slips, flat/fitted sheets), other linen (towels and bedroom curtains), non-perishable food items, cleaning materials and washing detergents. They urgently need clothes, toys, household items, etc., for their charity shop, too.

(Mashudu Mugwena: 011 849 5241)

Benoni SPCA

Dog and cat food, blankets and bedding to keep the animals warm through the cold winter, animal toys, any building items (bricks, cement, fencing, poles, paving, etc.). They are about to undertake the mammoth task of revamping all their kennels, and desperately need building materials and equipment, as well as people who are willing to assist in building new kennels and fixing the existing ones. Even monetary donations marked: “kennels” would be fantastic.

(Zelda Spann: 011 845 2551 or 084 225 3601)

Home-Start

(Erica Strydom: 011 845 1116)

Namaqua Dog and Donkey Foundation (NDDF)

Blankets, dry dog and cat food, new collars and leads, non-perishable food for owners of the disadvantaged animals they assist.

(Sharon Roe: 082 893 5087)

Red Cross Benoni

Blankets and tinned food.

(Heather Mels: 011 849 2723)

iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre

Blankets and non-perishable food items (such as rusks, long life milk, Cuppa Soup, tinned food, etc.).

(Natasha Zaayman or Hema Pillay: 011 422 4107 / 011 421 5278)
