Gold One injects 28-m into Daveyton clinic

Mining company Gold One has injected R28-million into extending the Daveyton East Clinic.

The sod turning ceremony took place on April 23.

The facility, situated near the traffic circle in S’godi section, will see contractors commencing with work soon.

The clinic is currently a level one, which caters for more than 5 000 people, and the extension will see it being a level two and accommodating more people.

It is expected to be completed in 2015.

Gold One partnered with the metro in this project and both will be involved in managing it.

Ekurhuleni health and social development MMC Makhosazana Twala said the project is expected to create jobs and build skills, especially in brick laying, plastering, electricity and tiling.

She thanked Gold One for the worthwhile investment.

Gold One executive vice-president Izak Marais said the project is part of the mine’s social contribution.

Marais said the decision to extend the clinic was taken after a careful study which also involved the council.

“The project is a long life legacy to remind the people about the mine’s contribution within the communities in which we mine,” he said.
